Cultural Heritage Preservation

Cultural Heritage Preservation

What does heritage mean for society? How does the fast development of new technology influence city life? And how can we find the right approach to restoring monuments? Experts of this section discuss important issues like these every year, and share their experiences of how these and many other issues are being solved in different countries and cultural traditions.

In 2021, the section will present a program dedicated to three anniversaries: the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II, the 30th anniversary of the entry of Saint Petersburg and the surrounding area into the UNESCO World Heritage List, and the 60th anniversary of the first manned space flight. A special feature will be a three-day international conference on manor civilization.

Programme

In 2019, the Section brought together more than 60 experts from 12 countries for a professional discussion on the future of monuments, on finding forced compromises while preserving unique architectural objects and new heritage.
