Born on July 18, 1970 in Cherkasy region, USSR. In 1987–1992 studied in Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO University), studying at MGIMO University. In 1992 graduated with honors. 1992–1998 — has been working in media business. 1993–1994 — postgraduate studies at MGIMO University, received a PhD in Historical Sciences. 1998–1999 — Director of the Department of the Federal Tax Service of the Russian Federation. State Counselor of the tax service (2d Class). 1999–2004 — Head of management of the political bloc "Fatherland-All Russia", Head of Moscow Executive Committee of the "United Russia" political party. 2004–2005 — Deputy Head of the "Central Election Committee of United Russia". 2010–2012 — Member of the Commission under the President of Russia on counteraction of falsification of history. 2012 — appointed the Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation. 2013 — Chairman of the Russian public-state organization "Russian Military and Historical Society". 2017 — Member of the bureau of the Supreme Council of "United Russia".
