Tom is an Urban Planner by training holding Masters in both Landscape and Town Planning.

As Head of Place, Tom oversees the work of the Design Council Advisors to manage the delivery of the design advice programme. Tom ensures the quality of the Design Council’s delivery for a wide range of clients and helps the organisation to provide critical insight into development issues for Local Authorities and National Advice Panels.

Tom has 15 years of professional experience both in the UK and internationally delivering a range of projects from new city plans to individual community buildings. Working for national and local governments, developers and communities, he has developed participatory design processes to support urban regeneration and neighbourhood planning whilst building capacity across communities and the built environment professions in Europe, Asia, Africa and Central and South America.
