Professor Kerimova is an expert on the Azerbaijani music culture.
She has defended a unique research project on Azerbaijani cradle songs, and proved that cradle songs sung by the mother from the first days of the child's life helps shape the ethnic identity of the human being; moreover, it also fulfils a protective, magical and healing function for the human being for the entire duration of his or her life. With her two young daughters of seven and nine years old, spent a considerable time in expeditions around various settlements, collecting unique materials. Since the 1990s she has been teaching music in the city of Samsun (Turkey).
