Sara Navarro graduated in Fine Arts at the University of Granada in 1996 and later pursued graduate studies in Fine Arts at the University of California Los Angeles. She got her master’s degree in Museum Studies in 2004 at the Complutente University in Madrid and went on to work in the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia contemporary art museum and the Oliva Arauna art gallery in Madrid. She studied industrial design and worked as a free-lance exhibition designer. In 2007 she became a project manager in Acciona Producciones y Diseño S.A., one of the most important museum production companies in Europe. In 2008 she started working for the Council of the Alhambra and Generalife, where she coordinated and managed exhibitions and other cultural programs for over 10 years.
In May 2019 she became the director of the Federico García Lorca Center in Granada, Spain. The Center is a beautiful contemporary building located in the heart of historical Granada and houses a play house, exhibition hall, conference hall, archive and library. Its impressive archive is composed of Federico García Lorca’s original manuscripts, drawings, photographs and personal library.
