His main research interests lie broadly within the field of popular and vernacular performance and since completing his doctoral research at the University of Exeter in 1996, he has led numerous projects that explore the application of storytelling to a variety of social and policy contexts, especially around environmental policy, health, education and social justice. This has included work across the UK and Europe, as well as in Kenya, Uganda, India and Colombia.
He has served on many Advisory Boards and Panels for the UK Research Councils and the British Council and has published widely on storytelling and its various applications.
