Based on the knowledge about culture and traditions, Michael developed interest in arts. He is an accomplished actor and traditional musician. Furthermore, he studied cultural development anthropology at Masters level and this led to his mastery in designing and managing sustainable community development projects in Malawi. His understanding of the critical role that culture and tradition plays in human life, Michael produces a television program that sensitizes people on social economic issues; culture being the underpinning domain.
Michael is a graduate of various colleges and universities. He possesses a diploma in clinical medicine; Science of Administration undergraduate certificate; Masters in International Development, Masters in Strategic Management and a PhD in Youth Development through Education.
Michael worked for a non-state organization (The Adventist Development and Relief Agency- ADRA) for 27 years; he rose from the position of Manager to Director.
He is currently the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Wildlife in the Government of the Republic of Malawi. He is also the Vice President of United Transformation Movement, a coalition party partner in the current government.
