Graduated with a degree in Art History from the Faculty of History, Zhdanov State University of Leningrad in 1973.
Took part in numerous international symposia, conferences, and research-to-practice seminars. Authored more than 200 papers, including instructional brochures, monographs and research articles. Has been working for more than 30 years in the sphere of retraining and in-service training for museum professionals.
Research focus: museum phenomenology, history of emergence and development of museology as a science, formation of schools of museology, theory of museology: theory of documenting, thesaurus theory, theory of museum communication, museum visitors, museum psychology, museum sociology, theory and methodology of museum pedagogy.
Awards: Holder of the honorary title "Distinguished Worker of Higher Education of the Russian Federation".
