Was born in 1954 in the village of Aksu, Kazakhstan. In 1975 graduated from the Gogol School of Arts in Almaty. In 1981 graduated from the Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture where he studied under Professor G. D. Epifanov.

Member of the Union of Artists of Russia.

Member of the Saint Petersburg Academy of Modern Art.

Associate Professor of Saint Petersburg State University, Department of Film and Television Production Design.

Author of 28 personal exhibitions and more than 400 collective exhibitions in Russia and abroad: in the US, Germany, France, England, Japan, Finland, Italy, Denmark, Holland, Belgium, Poland, Cuba, Mexico, Canada, Czech Republic, South Korea, China, Greece, Switzerland, the Baltic countries and the CIS. Mr. Kazbekov has illustrated more than 70 books.

He is a laureate of many competitions in visual arts and book art.
