Igor Matsievsky

Professor, Russian Institute of Art History, Composer, Instrumentalist.
Doctor of the History of Art. Academician of Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, Honored Artist of Ukraine and Poland, Head of the Department of Instrumentation of the Russian Institute of Art History, member of the Dissertation councils of the Russian Institute of Art History, St. Petersburg Conservatory and the Kazakh National University of Arts.

He graduated from the Lviv Conservatory and the assistantship of the Leningrad Conservatory as a composer, and the Leningrad Institute of the Theater, Music and Cinema as a researcher. Main directions of scientific work: traditional musical instruments and instrumental music of Slavic, Finno-Ugric, Turkic peoples; Organology and Organophony; Phenomenology and the Theory of Instrumental Musical Art; Comparative Art History; Methodology of Field, Transcriptional and Analytical Work; ways of systematic generalization of the phenomena of artistic culture. 28 Candidates and 7 Doctors of Science of St. Petersburg, Moscow, Bashkortostan, Karelia, Mordovia, Adygea, Mari El, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Lithuania, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Palestine were trained under the leadership of I. Matsievsky.
