Theatre theorist and critic. In 1993 graduated from the Theatre history and criticism department of GITIS. PhD in Philological Sciences. Published in periodicals since 1989. Since May 2016 — Rector of GITIS. Author of books "Theatrical Moscow. Guidebook" (2009; 2011) and "Demi-season book. Performances of Moscow theaters, seen and described by Grigory Zaslavsky" (2011).

Head of the Department of culture and Deputy director of the Directorate of Information on Radio Mayak-24 (2001–2007). From 1993 till 2001 and — in 2002–2016 Observer and Deputy Head of the Department of Culture and Head of the Department of Culture of the "Nezavisimaya Gazeta". In 2006–2016 — Chief editor of the magazine "Stanislavsky".

Since 2010 has been teaching at the Higher School of Television of Moscow State University, Associate Professor. Since 2007 cultural columnist for Radio Vesti FM. Since 2015 the host of the program "Cultural enlightenment" on the TV channel "Mir". In 2011–2016 — Member of the Public Council of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation. Head of working group on the theater.
