Archivist, historian of music culture; has headed the Manuscripts Room at the Russian Institute of Art History for the past thirty years.
Author of the following monographs: "The Society of Jewish Folk Music in Petersburg - Petrograd" (1997, in German — 2002), "Yascha Heifets in Russia" (2004, in English — 2014). Published a number of studies on life and work of Russian composers of the 19th–20th centuries, including M. I. Glinka, N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov, D. D. Shostakovich.
