Evgeny Anisimov

Evgeny Anisimov is a major scholar, one of the best specialists in Russia and in the World on the history of Peter the Great and the 18th century.
His expertise has been widely recognized in the international academic community. He prepared and published more than 140 papers, including 20 books and collections of documents, more than 200 popular science titles, collections of articles on Russian history, part of which was published in (or translated into) English, French, Italian, Hungarian, Georgian and Japanese languages. Working with his undergraduate and graduate students Evgeny Anisimov created an academic school that studies Russian history of the 18th century.
Since 2010 Evgeny Anisimov has served as the academic director of the Peter the Great Institute, a cultural and educational organization that aims to promote the Petrine heritage, disseminate knowledge about the great reformer of Russia, organize conferences and publish various historical sources and monographs on the Petrine era. He also serves on the editorial board of “Zvezda”, “Vsemirnaya Literatura”, “Nestor” and “Istoria Peterburga” journals.
Dr. Anisimov is a laureate of the Russian Government’s Prize in the field of culture (2014), the State Committee for Press Prize (2016), the All-Russian Historical and Literary Prize named after Alexander Nevsky (2018), and many others.
