Artistic director of the Gorky Moscow Art Theater, creator of the annual theatre festival and the Golden Mask national theatre award, organizer of the Moscow Easter Festival (together with Valery Gergiev), the New Drama Festival of Contemporary Drama (together with Elena Gremina and Mikhail Ugarov), “Big Break” Theatre Festival for Children, “Texture” Festival of Contemporary Theatre and Film, “SlovoNova” Poetry Festival, and “Tradition” Festival (together with Zakhar Prilepin).
Produced and directed more than 50 shows in the Mariinsky Theatre, the Bolshoi Theatre, the Chekhov Moscow Art Theatre, the Meyerhold Theatre Center, the Praktika Center. Participated in co-productions with Metropolitan Opera, Lincoln Center, Barbican, the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Holland Festival, etc.
In 2005 Eduard opened the Praktika Theatre in Moscow, then in 2009 — the Stsena-Molot Theatre in Perm, and in 2012 — the Polytheatre in the Grand Hall of the Polytechnic Museum in Moscow. In 2017, in cooperation with Zakhar Prilepin, initiated creation of the Russian Art Union that promotes shaping the national identity with the help of art. Serves as the Chairman of the Union.
Producer of Favor, the First Forum of Active Lay People in the Column Hall of the Union House (2018). Directed the opening gala of the Saint Petersburg Cultural Forum in the Mariinsky Theatre in 2018. Author of “Yekaterinburg Pulse”, the project of studying the cultural environment and the cultural policy of Yekaterinburg. Laureate of the Dyaghilev Prize (2003), member of the Board, Institute of Cultural Policy (since 2003). Initiator of the following publishing projects: New Writing series of plays by contemporary Russian and international playwrights, the publication of Marina Davydova's book The End of the Theatre Age (publisher and author of the preface); also wrote the preface to Philip Kotler's book Standing Room Only: Strategies for Marketing the Performing Arts.
