Alexandr Deryabin

Film scholar, film historian.
Has been publishing his works since 1991 Author of around 100 research articles and publications, specialist in Soviet documentary films of the 1920s-1950s.

In 1994-2001 – researcher, chief specialist, Department of Scientific and Reference Documents of the Russian State Film and Photo Archive (RGAKFD). In 2000-2004 – Executive Editor of “Kinovedcheskie Zapiski” Journal. In 2002-2013 – Researcher, R&D Institute of Film Arts. In 2004-2007 – Editor, Film Production Department, NTV. Since 2012 – employed on contract with the Sate Film Archives of Russia.

Compiler, author of the introductory article, commentaries and index to “Dziga Vertov. From His Heritage: V. 1: Playwriting Experiments” (Moscow, 2004). One of the compilers and executive editor of the multi-volume series “Chronicles of Russian Films: 1863-1965” (Moscow, 2004-2010). Executive editor, co-author of commentaries, author of index in the collection of documents “Films at War” (Moscow, 2005; compiler and author of introductory articles – V.I. Fomin). Compiler of the reference book “Creators of Frontline Film Chronicles (Moscow, 2016).

Awarded an honorary medal of the Film Festival of Mute Films in Pordenon (Le Giornate del Cinema Muto, Italy, 2004), two prizes of the White Pillars Festival of Archival Films (2006, 2011) as the best film historian of the year.
