Alexey Valentinovich Bogdanov, Deputy General Director of the State Hermitage, has been working in the museum since 1984 and since 1999 in his present position. He is a specialist in the field of security systems and an experienced high-level executive.
He has two university degrees:
- in 1984 he graduated from The Bonch-Bruevich Saint-Petersburg State University of Telecommunications.
- in 1990 he graduated from Saint Petersburg Electrotechnical University “LETI”.
He teaches at four universities being an associate professor:
- at the Department of Museology of the Philosophy Faculty of St. Petersburg State University
- at the Department of Fire Safety of Buildings and Automated Fire-Fighting Systems of St. Petersburg University of State Fire Service of Emercom of Russia of the Ministry of Emergencies of Russia
- at Higher school of applied physics and space technologies Institute of Physics, Nanotechnology and Telecommunications of Peter the Great St.Petersburg Polytechnic University of Peter the Great St.Petersburg Polytechnic University
- at the faculty of business informatics at the department “Digital technologies in the field of culture” of Higher School of Economics
Ph.D. in Technology, Associate Professor.
Winner of the award of the Government of the Russian Federation in the field of science and technics for 2003.
In 2016 A.V. Bogdanov was awarded the second-class medal of the Order of Merit for the Motherland by the decree of the President of the Russian Federation dated 20 September.
Membership in professional organizations: ICOM (International Council of Museums).
Aleksey Valentinovich is married.
