The socio-cultural project "Saint Petersburg Days in Suzdal" will be held in Suzdal on October 3 and 4, 2019 under the auspices of the VIII Saint Petersburg International Cultural Forum.
The "Saint Petersburg Days in Suzdal" program are dedicated to the 40th anniversary since the foundation of the Suzdal School of Art Restoration (today known as the Suzdal Branch of the Saint Petersburg State Institute of Culture Studies). The project has been created with various social population groups in mind. The project will include creative meetings and discussions, workshops and seminars, exhibitions, concerts and charity events.
The Saint Petersburg State Institute of Culture Studies has been a regular participant of the Saint Petersburg International Cultural Forum. The Rector of the Institute, Alexander Turgaev, Distinguished Worker of Higher Education of the Russian Federation, has served for several years as the head of the Forum Section "Folk Creativity and Intangible Cultural Heritage." The socio-cultural project entitled "Saint Petersburg Days in Suzdal" will help create a new impetus for discussing important issues of folk creativity and intangible cultural heritage, their modern interpretation.
Suzdal was chosen as the city for the project for a reason. For centuries Suzdal has kept the national historical memory; it is the place where old traditions of folk creativity are still alive today. The city is also home to the Suzdal Branch of the Saint Petersburg State Institute of Culture Studies, the unique center for training professional restorers. Its graduates have been working successfully in major museum centers of Russia and the rest of the world on preserving and maintaining the unique cultural heritage of our country.
The project seeks not only to expand the borders of the Saint Petersburg International Cultural Forum, but also to popularize and develop education in the cultural sphere.
The "Saint Petersburg Days in Suzdal" program presupposed a broad range of educational events, from in-service training programs for staff of cultural establishments to career guidance advice for new university students. Creative meetings and discussions will help attract numerous guests to Suzdal, including famous politicians, scholars and workers of culture. Exhibitions, concerts, and charity events will be open for the general public; they will be affordable for various social groups.
